Dinner in White outing

We first learned about this dinner in Hamburg.  While visiting a friend we saw a group of people, dressed in white enjoying an outdoor dinner.  Our friend explained to us that it was an annual event and that we must also have it in Chicago.

Upon our return I checked and indeed there is annual dinner in white in Chicago.  It started in Paris when François Pasquier invited a group of friends to an elegant outdoor dinner at Bois de Boulogne.  He asked them to dress in white so it would be easier to identify each other.  It caught on internationally to over 70 cities.  The basic concept is to dress très chic and to set up an elegant space and bring fancy food when possible.  It doesn’t mean you have to go and splurge and buy fancy white clothes. Over the years we have seen people dress nicely or very fancy.  The same can be said about food.

This year we were running late so we put together some cheese, smoked salmon, pickles, fruit and a quinoa salad.

I love the concept and the idea of dressing up in white.  I enjoy watching people set up their beautiful tables and their elegant outfits.  It is always a fun night out.
